Amphibians

Amphibians are animals that cannot exist without water or a damp environment. They have special skin glands that create proteins for their survival. These proteins help process water, oxygen, and carbon dioxide into and out of their bodies. It can also battle illnesses caused by bacteria or fungi. Some species also produce poison for self-defence.

Amphibians, like reptiles, have cold blood. They require highly-precise living conditions due to their unique skin.
Too much exposure to heat can harm their cells. Too much wind might cause the animal's skin to dry up and become dehydrated. Thus, they are more high-maintenance pets with species-specific care requirements.
